No smoking inside of the cabin.
Quiet hours are from 10 PM - 7 AM. If you are out on the rear deck after 10 PM please be considerate of our neighbors and use low voices.
No wood burning fires at the property.
With Flagstaff being a Dark Sky City, please help us maintain exterior lights off overnight.
There is a parking pad directly in front of the cabin which has space for 2 vehicles. Please be careful when pulling in especially if you arrive at night or times of heavy snow. We also have a small dirt driveway right on the side of the cabin. It is on the narrow side so please drive in slowly.
In times of snow we have shovels under the front deck (accessed on the right side when facing the street) We also have ICE MELT, there should be a bag in the pantry and more under the deck. You can use this if the entry, stairs or parking area gets icy.
There is a black lockbox by the entrance, to the left of the door. Opposite to the house sign. Pull the protective cover down to enter the code. You will be provided with the lockbox code which is regularly updated right before your reservation.

The modem can be found behind the downstairs TV table. The internet is fast with speeds ranging 350MB – 500MB when used with wifi. Being in a somewhat remote area it can sometimes hit a snag, a quick reset by unplugging it will usually do the trick.
The front pathway lights are on a timer and automatically turn on at sunset, then will turn off at 10:00 PM. This is so we can abide by the city's regulations as Flagstaff is a 'dark sky city'
The rear deck string lights are also on a timer coming on at sunset and will be on for 2 hours, they typically shut off around 9:30 PM. If you prefer to have them off you can turn them off in the timer connected behind the bbq grill, please make sure to leave it plugged in however.
To light up the cabin there are light switches/lamps in the following areas:
We have a central furnace that is used as the primary heating source. The gas fireplace can also be used in addition to the mini split upstairs.
The gas fireplace has a thermostat setting described below that can automatically turn on and off to maintain a desired temperature.
The furnace is controlled using the thermostat next to the mirror by the entrance. This is only for heating. Simply push the mode button until you see ‘Heat’ and can then adjust the temperature using the up down dials. In winter time the cabin should be at a comfortable temperature but you can adjust the heat setting as desired.
It takes 3 – 5 minutes for the furnace to fire up and start working, it will make a noticeable sound of air, especially by the downstairs bedroom.
The fireplace is controlled by the remote control directly to the right of it. The controller is inside a white wall mount. You can pull open the cover from the top and take the controller out.
To turn it on simply press the center red button which will turn on the display and press it again to turn on the fireplace. That is all you need to do to turn on the fireplace. There are additional settings you can adjust as well.
Auto Thermostat Setting: The remote control can operate as a room thermostat. The thermostat can be set to a desired temperature to control a room's comfort level.
To activate this function,
Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the THERMO icon and press SELECT.
Use the UP and DOWN arrows to turn the THERMO ON or OFF, then press SELECT. The SET TEMP will start blinking. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, select the desired temperature and press SELECT.
If the thermostat function is on, the set temperature can be adjusted at any time by pressing the UP and DOWN arrows.
As the room temperature approaches the set temperature, the remote system will automatically adjust the flame height.
If the room temperature rises above the set temperature, the fireplace will shut down. The fireplace will turn back on after the room temperature drops below the set temperature.
Fireplace Fan: To emit more heat you can turn on the internal fireplace fan. Press 'Menu' then use the arrow buttons to go down and then select Fan. You can choose your desired fan speed which will blow heat out of the fireplace. Press Select to make your selection. The medium or low setting is usually the most comfortable as high can get pretty warm!
Flame Size: Another setting will be the Flame size. Similar steps as above, press Menu then select Flame and you can choose the level, press Select to accept the setting. A higher flame will emit more heat.
Timer: Lastly you can also setup a timer under the Timer option so the fireplace turns off automatically after a desired time .
Upstairs you will see the minisplit unit over the bed. The controller should be on the wall right next to the closet. To turn it on point it at the unit and hit the red On button, the temp with settings will light up on the minisplit. It can take a few minutes to start blowing air. When changing from cold to hot it will take about 5 minutes for the conversion.
Please make sure to leave WIFI setting ON at all times.
You can choose cold A/C air or warm air by pressing on Mode and then choosing the desired setting.
The up and down arrows will control the temperature
The Fan button will adjust the speed of the air coming out of the unit.
The Swing button adjusts the direction of the air. Leave it pressed and the direction will change, let it go when you find the desirable location.
Please make sure to turn the unit off upon checkout, and ensure the WIFI is ON in the controller.
There is a ceiling fan in the living room and one in each bedroom. These are controlled by remotes and are all labeled.
Nespresso Pods - To operate the Nespresso machine you will want to start by checking it has water. The left transparent compartment is where the water goes. You can pull that out and fill it up.
Next, open the top part by pushing the silver lever to the right, you will see an unlock symbol. This will lift the pod holder and eject the used pod if there is one there.
Next place a new pod with the flat part facing up. Close the cover by pushing down, you will hear it pierce the pod, and then slide the lever all the way to the left until it stops. You will see the lock symbol.
Once it is fully locked press the center button which will have a light and this will start to brew your coffee in to your mug.
Moccamaster - To use this coffee maker, fill up the left reservoir with water, you would typically do half or full carafe. Remove the lid on the right which is where the coffee & filter go. You can pull out the filter basket to place the filter in and the amount of coffee. Once it is placed back, simply turn the switch on the bottom left to the desired amount of coffee.
We supply coffee, creamer singles, sugar and tea. That should be in the drawers under the coffee station.
The gas oven is controlled by the front display. To turn it on simply press Bake, then choose your temperature and hit Start. You will hear it ignite and start to pre warm.
Downstairs
The Samsung TV has a Netflix account already logged in for use. There are other apps which can be used throughout your stay if you have an account, please remember to log out after your stay. If forgotten we regularly check to log out users.
Upstairs
There is a second Samsung smart TV in the loft which has a Netflix account to use. You can also log in with your own apps or stream from your phone.
The Outdoor fireplace and furniture will be available to use unless there is heavy snow storms in order to protect it. You can store the covers in the small storage box there in the deck. We ask that you please re cover it after your stay but only once the fireplace has cooled down otherwise it can ignite the cover!
This is a propane gas fireplace with the tank being in the hidden tank table right next to the seating furniture. You can pick up the table cover to access the tank and turn on the propane gas. We do our absolute best to have full propane, If it is empty there is an extra tank behind the bbq grill.
To turn it on make sure the propane gas is open by turning it to the left. Once the gas is open you will push the knob in and then turn it left. You should hear gas lightly hiss, push in the ignition while the gas is coming out and hold it a few seconds for it to light. If after 5 seconds it doesn’t light turn off the gas, wait a moment and try again.
If you would like to use the grill please move it away from cabin and towards the corner of the deck railing for the smoke and safety. It has wheels and is easily pushed.
There are 2 fire hydrants in the cabin, one by the fireplace as well as an emergency fire blanket which you will see next to the grill in case of any emergency.
The grill has two side shelves that slide up and then lock In for extra counter space. These have to be placed back to put the grill cover back on.
The grill has a propane tank under it which we do our best to keep full. If empty there is an extra tank behind the grill.
Make sure the gas tank is open by turning the lever to the left. Turn the knob slightly to the flame icon and push the ignition switch button until you see the flames light under the grill guards. You can monitor the temperature with the thermostat in the grill, it can take several minutes to heat up especially in times of cold weather or if it is windy.
There is a bristle-free brush that can be used where the tank is when you are done using it.
